Rules

Edgeloop is played on a grid of dots: draw a single closed loop by joining neighbouring dots with lines, never crossing or touching your loop. Each number tells how many of the four sides of its cell the loop uses; a cell without a number may have as many as needed. Each grid has a single solution, found by logic, without guessing.

  • The daily challenge: one grid per size (5 × 5, 7 × 7, 8 × 8), the same for everyone, renewed at midnight (Paris time). Only your first try of the day is ranked; the next ones are practice.
  • The free run: a new grid every game, as many games as you like; your best time of the day counts.
  • The clock starts when the grid appears and does not stop, even if you leave the page. It stops when the loop you send is right; a wrong loop only costs time.
  • Week: each day, your rank in the daily challenge gives points (25 for the first, then 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1, and 1 point for every other ranked player).
  • With a mouse: click near a side to draw it, right click for a cross (no line here), drag to draw several. With a finger: the Cross button switches the tool. A number met turns grey.

Edgeloop: the rules in brief

Draw a single closed loop along the sides of the cells: each digit tells how many of its sides the loop uses. Three sizes, 5 × 5, 7 × 7 and 8 × 8; the grid of the day is the same for everyone and is solved without guessing.

Edgeloop: how to get better

  • Start with the 0s: none of their sides is drawn.
  • A 3 in a corner draws both sides of that corner.
