Rules

Hueclash shows thirty colour words, each written in a coloured ink. Answer the colour of the ink, not the word: when “red” is written in blue, the answer is blue.

  • The clock starts with the first word and stops at your thirtieth answer.
  • A wrong colour adds 1.5 seconds to your time; you move on to the next word.
  • The words are in the language of the page; each language has its own daily challenge and leaderboards.
  • The daily challenge is the same for everyone, renewed at midnight (Paris time); only your first try of the day is ranked. The free run draws new words every game; your best time of the day counts.
  • With a keyboard: 1, 2, 3 and 4 for the four colours, in the order of the buttons.
  • Colour blind? Switch on “Colour shapes”: each ink also has its shape (● red, ■ blue, ▲ green, ◆ yellow), on the word and on the buttons. The word still names another colour: the test stays the same.
  • Answers too fast or too even for a hand are kept but not ranked.

Hueclash: the rules in brief

Thirty colour words, each written in a different ink: answer the colour of the ink, not the word. Every mistake adds 1.5 seconds; the words are in the language of the page.

Hueclash: how to get better

  • Look at the colour without reading the word: fix your eyes on the middle of the letters.
  • Slow down a touch: a mistake costs 1.5 seconds.
