Rules
Numtrail gives you ten number sequences: find the next term of each one, as fast as you can. The first ones are simple, the last ones trickier.
- Sequences you can work out in your head: constant steps, doublings, interleaved sequences, each term the sum of the two before, squares, growing steps...
- Each sequence has a single answer: no simpler rule leads to another number.
- A sequence that resists can be passed: it counts as found, but adds 20 seconds to your time.
- The daily challenge is the same for everyone, renewed at midnight (Paris time); only your first try of the day is ranked. The free run draws ten new sequences every game; your best time of the day counts.
- The clock starts when the sequences show and never stops, even if you leave the page. It stops when every sequence is found or passed.
Numtrail: the rules in brief
Ten number sequences: type the next term of each. Every sequence has a single answer; a stubborn one can be skipped for 20 seconds.
Numtrail: how to get better
- Look at the gap between two terms first, then at the gap between the gaps.
- Think of multiplications and alternating sequences too.
